Dagmar O’Connor, Ph.D., is the Swedish-born sex therapist who caused a sensation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland with her seminar “All You Ever Wanted To Know About Relationships But Were Afraid To Ask” and “Relationships and Self-Esteem” given to world leaders. Her groundbreaking discussion was so over-subscribed that for the first time in the history of this invitation-only summit, Dr. O’Connor was asked to repeat the session.
In May 2008, she was featured speaker at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt with U.S. President George Bush, Middle United Nations East Quartet Envoy Tony Blair, and H.M. King Abdullah Ibn Al Hussein.
She was the first female sex therapist trained by Masters and Johnson in New York City more than three decades ago. Dr. O’Connor has many other accolades to her credit: Former Director of the Sex Therapy Clinic, Department of Psychiatry, St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital New York City; “Lecturer in Psychiatry” at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center New York City; Director of Training and instructor at New York City Medical College’s Department of OB/GYN sex therapy program.
She has also appeared on as a guest expert on such television shows as Donahue, CNN, Geraldo, Sally Jesse Raphael and has been interviewed by Barbara Walters, Charlie Rose and Dr. Frank Fields. Dr. O’Connor was recently been invited to the Fortune Magazine “The Most Powerful Women” global summit as well as Women’s Leadership Exchange.
Her book “How To Make Love to the Same Person for the Rest of Your Life and Still Love It” in 1985 became instant bestseller and was translated into 15 languages. Recently republished by Virgin Books, it’s now in its second printing, and according to Publishers Weekly, “This book deserves to be on every bedside table!”
She is working on a new book: “How we learn about love”.
In addition to her research and private practice, which includes: Individuals psychotherapy, Marriage counseling sex therapy as Group therapy.
Dr. O’Connor conducts workshops for couples and individuals. Her “Sex Therapy Vacation for Couples” held in the Caribbean and “Sexual Self-Esteem Workshops” are among the most sought after.
